EV for WI EV Road Trip

TBD – Wisconsin Solar Homes Pilot Project Launch

Date and Location:  This event will be held in Vernon County. Exact details to come. 

Join the Couillard Solar Foundation and Vernon County’s Couleecap for the launch of our new partnership, which aims to help financially-strained, rural homeowners access solar power. 

Light refreshments will be served. Pre-registration is requested.

April – Earth Day Equity:  Air Quality and Solar Power in Beloit

Date: April 22nd, 5-7pm; Beloit Public Library, Community Room (North)

A 2024 international report identified Beloit, WI as having worst air quality in the US for a city of its size. Census data shows that a third of Beloit’s roughly 36,500 residents are people of color, while nearly one-fifth fall below the poverty line. We will discuss the factors contributing to the city’s air pollution, a citizen science initiative aimed at monitoring it, and how solar could help alleviate this. 

Light refreshments will be available, but we request attendees pre-register.

May – Solstock:  Highlighting Youth-Led Environmental Projects

Date: Saturday, May 31, 2024 5pm-8pm

Topic: Join us for our 4th Annual Fundraising Festival. This year, we’ll be shifting the format to focus on storytelling, and a few youth-led environmental teams will share their plans with attendees.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public, but we request that attendees register in advance to enable our planning.

Future-proofing Wisconsin Schools:  How Solar Power Supports Savings and Learning

Friday, June 20th, Marathon High School Outdoor Classroom, Marathon City, WI

School’s out and graduation is over, but the learning never stops. Join school administrators and board members at this event in north-central Wisconsin for a half-day workshop on navigating the financing and processes needed to bring solar power to a school near you. Weather permitting, we will hold the workshop at Marathon High School’s outdoor classroom, a Couillard Solar Canopy.

EV for WI EV Road Trip

August – Coping With Climate Anxiety

Date and Location:  Madison Public Library – Central Branch, August 7th, 5:30-7:30pm

Extreme weather events such as Hurricane Helene and the Los Angeles fires – or even droughts like the one affecting almost half of Wisconsin – are becoming not only more common, but more severe.  Carol Phelps is a climate activist based in Middleton who will be teaching a course at Madison College this spring on how to handle climate anxiety.  She will guide participants through a process focused on connecting with their hopes for the future and identifying the resources and opportunities available to them in the present.

September – Resilience Hubs:  How Solar Supports Emergency Preparedness

Date and Location: TBD

This unique event will dive into the Resilience Hub model for emergency preparedness. We will also hear about the way distributed energy systems, such as home solar installations with batteries, can support community resilience.

October – Game-ifying Your Home’s Green Transition

Date & Location:  Madison Public Library – Central Branch, October 9, 5:30-7:30pm

This unique event will look at one Madison-area maker’s game, where players have to navigate their energy consumption and utility bills.
