Deerfield Solar Tour: Deerfield Community Solar and Foodbank
Built Feb 2024 – 73 kW
Array powers the Deerfield Community Center and Food Pantry
Installer: Nickles Electric and volunteer labor
Installed in the Spring of 2024, with volunteer labor from installers and community members, this array will serve several purposes. It is intended as a community gathering space, as well as a parking space for members using the community center. The weatherproof canopy will allow walkways to remain clear during snow/rain, making it easier for people to get into the Community Center safely.
The array will power batteries that are intended to support both the Community Center and the food bank in the case of a power outage or other emergency.
Even before the canopy is commissioned and working, it has already provided a space for the community to gather.
The Couillard Solar Foundation sells this canopy to any homeowner, business or organization. The funds raised from these sales fund our Solar for Good and Solar on Schools grant programs.
