We’re always excited to see grant recipients get the attention they deserve for going solar. Tina’s K-9 Rescue is a “no-kill” animal sanctuary. Sanctuary residents include the familiar cats and dogs, but also pigs, both regular and guinea, horses, bunnies and even birds. For 24 years they’ve worked to find animals from around the country good homes, with any unclaimed animals allowed to call the shelter home for the rest of their lives.
Recently the organization held a fundraiser to pull together the remaining funds they need to install their solar array. Their plan is to install a 13.65 kW solar system that they anticipate will produce about 75% of their electricity needs. The money saved will go right back into the support and care of the many animals they take in each year.
Supporting animal shelters and conservation organizations is an important part of the Solar for Good program, acknowledging as it does, that it’s also important to support nonprofits with a mission to care for animals and the environment.
